Janessa Leoné is devoted to designs made with purpose. We test our materials for UPF, or Ultraviolet Protection Factor. Much like the SPF in sunscreen, UPF is a rating of how effective a certain material is at providing protection from the sun. 

For maximum sun protection, choose a high UPF material with a wide brim, which increases the amount of skin safely protected.

UPF TESTING


We test each of our materials for their UV protection factor. Due to variations in weave, crochet, and braiding techniques, there may be slight discrepancies in UPF ratings between styles, or between straw bodies.
