Grounding Rituals with Emily
This Valentine's Day, we're redefining romance with the power of ritual. Nurture your connection with yourself through grounding practices and quiet, sensory moments.
"Coming back to yourself is the foundation of happiness. If you think of your inner world as a garden, it’s about finding small simple ways to nurture & plant seeds of beauty every day."
What does it mean to come back to yourself & how does scent play into this?
Coming back to yourself is the foundation of happiness. If you think of your inner world as a garden, it’s about finding small simple ways to nurture & plant seeds of beauty every day. And of all the ways you can do this scent is the most powerful. This is because our sense of smell connects directly to our subconscious & has the ability to affect us on an emotional & physical level.
Any tips for people interested in or just starting their own grounding rituals?
Keep it personal, simple & sensory. A ritual is any small act you do with intention & awareness. The connection between scent & ritual is as old as time and for good reason. By connecting a ritual with scent you’re creating a deep sensory bond in your subconscious that enhances & strengths the ritual’s impact.
You have a beautiful production process of research, design, development. Can you speak to how you source your ingredients and what you consider most important in creating a product/brand with integrity.
I think you can always feel when something has been made with care. It’s a subtle energy that gets passed along from maker to customer. For me integrity is the same as care. If you show you care it attracts people who care, and this is the approach we’ve always taken with sourcing ingredients to the makers we work around the world.
Tell us about the Ground scent.
Ground is one of my personal favorites. Its warm woody scent reminds me of being inside a Japanese temple. Ground is made from ingredients with deep roots into the earth & you can really feel this grounding energy when you burn it. I highly recommend it as an afternoon scent when you’re feeling a little overwhelmed by your to-do list.
